April 18 , 2000: The Patriots unveil the designs for their new stadium in a press conference at the Seaport Hotel in Boston.

June 15, 2000: Gillette Stadium’s first concrete foundation is poured.

April 3, 2001: In celebration of a long-standing construction tradition, the final beam is hoisted into place at the new stadium to signify the “topping off” of the structure’s steel.

May 11, 2002: The Revolution play in the first game at the new stadium. In the stadium’s “soft opening,” the lower seating bowl and concourse are opened to the public for the first time.

August 5, 2002: A 15-year agreement is finalized with the Gillette Company for exclusive naming rights to Gillette Stadium.

August 17, 2002: Patriots host the first football game at Gillette Stadium, a 16-15 preseason victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

September 9, 2002: Patriots host the grand opening of Gillette Stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, a 30-14 victory.

2010: Two Daktronics high-definition LED video scoreboards are installed.

2011: The Putnam Club is remodeled to offer 120,000 square feet of comfort.

2012: Gillette Stadium becomes one of the largest NFL venues to offer free WiFi with enough bandwidth to accommodate every fan.

2013: More than 14,000 square feet of LED ribbon boards and four digital panels are installed above the main concourse.

2014: LED signage is installed throughout the stadium and Patriots football operations facility is expanded by 30,000 square feet.

2015: The Optum Field Lounge, Cross Insurance Pavilion & Business Center and DraftKings Fantasy Sports Zone are opened.

2016: Gillette Stadium suites are remodeled, administrative offices are expanded and the stadium’s WiFi is upgraded.

2017: Gillette Stadium’s Super Bowl Championship banner display is reconfigured in the south end zone. The Encore Boston Harbor Terrace and JetBlue Landing are opened on the upper concourse. A stainless-steel food and drink rail encircling the entire 300-level.

2018: Gillette Stadium field lights are converted to LED. The Putnam Clubs are renovated. Stainless steel food and drink rails are installed in the north and sound ends of the main concourse. More enclosed gathering spaces are constructed throughout the upper concourse.

2021: A new and 50 percent larger video board is installed in the south end zone. The south end concession stands are redesigned to add a walk-in food and beverage area.
