RECENT FORM VS. NEW YORK RED BULLS

This will be the 73rd regular-season meeting – and 84th meeting in all competitions – between the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls, whose rivalry goes all the way back to MLS’ 1996 roots.

Home-field advantage has played a large role in recent years as the Revs have won four of the last five meetings in Foxborough – highlighted recently with last year’s 2-1 victory at Gillette Stadium – while the Red Bulls have been victorious in nine of the last 10 matchups in New Jersey.

While recent regular-season history includes a mix of results for both sides, New England are unbeaten against the Red Bulls in their past five playoff meetings. This includes two wins and a draw at home, as well as an important triumph at Red Bull Arena in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Championship in 2014, on New England’s way to a 4-3 aggregate victory and trip to MLS Cup.

Overall Record vs. Red Bulls: 30-27-15
Home Record vs. Red Bulls: 22-6-7

Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 2, Red Bulls 1 (June 2, 2018)

Premier Lacrosse League Announces Opening Weekend Games of Inaugural Season to be Played at Gillette Stadium

Gillette Stadium will host the Premier Lacrosse League’s first three games of the inaugural season on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) today announced that the first three games of its inaugural season will be played at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 as part of the league’s opening weekend.

PLL Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder Paul Rabil made the announcement during a press conference at Gillette Stadium Friday morning. Rabil, a lacrosse superstar, 2x Gold Medalist with Team USA and veteran of 10 seasons in professional lacrosse, launched the PLL in October 2018 alongside his brother, PLL CEO and Co-Founder, Mike Rabil.

“We are humbled and excited to begin this new era of lacrosse at Gillette Stadium,” said Paul Rabil. “Gillette is a world-class venue with a history of hosting successful events like the NCAA Lacrosse Championships, and we’re excited to bring the Premier Lacrosse League to New England.”

The PLL is a tour-based model featuring six teams and the 160 best players in the world. In addition to being full-time employees and receiving health benefits, players will get equity stakes in the league – a first in professional sports. The league has signed an exclusive media-rights agreement with NBC, and the network added this week a third game on NBC flagship in addition to the 16 games on NBC Sports — totaling 19 games on television over the league’s 14-weekend schedule. All other games will be accessible live through NBCSports.com and the NBC Gold app.

Paul Rabil, a John Hopkins men’s lacrosse alumnus, played in Gillette Stadium’s first NCAA Lacrosse Championship weekend in May 2008.

Gillette Stadium has hosted five NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships since 2008 and holds the NCAA Men’s Division I Championship attendance record (2008: 48,970), the top three attendance records for Division I National Championship Games since 2012 (2012: 30,816, 2018: 29,455 and 2017: 28,971) and the top three Division II and Division III National Championship attendance records (2017: 31,560, 2008: 24,317 and 2009: 24,072). The venue also hosted professional lacrosse games in 2015.

Kraft Group President-International Dan Kraft, who played lacrosse goalie at the collegiate level for Tufts University in the 1980s and served on the executive Board of the Federation of International Lacrosse’s World Championships, which took place this past summer in Israel, attended the announcement to express his support for the new league and its potential to further grow the sport in New England and throughout the country.

“We are thrilled to partner with Paul and Mike Rabil and the Premier Lacrosse League to host the league’s first three games of its inaugural season at Gillette Stadium this summer,” said Kraft. “We really feel like Gillette Stadium is the preeminent lacrosse venue in the country and we have the opportunity to once again serve the largest lacrosse regions in terms of youth, high school and college players throughout Massachusetts and New England with a world-class event promoting the sport. We look forward to seeing Paul and Mike’s passion for lacrosse and creative concepts for the new league further grow the sport in not only New England, but throughout the country.”

In the spirit of growing and promoting the sport locally, Gillette Stadium officials invited a group of Foxborough High School lacrosse players to participate in a clinic with Paul Rabil on the stadium field Friday morning prior to attending the press conference.

     About Jon Langston
Loganville, GA native, singer-songwriter Jon Langston grew up on music like his heroes Alan Jackson and the Eagles. And once multiple concussions ended his Division I football career, he worked to develop his own style and sound while drawing from that variety of influences. In 2013 with the release of his first song, “Forever Girl,” Jon’s live shows began to grow, and he found himself opening for Chase Rice at Georgia’s Kennesaw State University.  It was his first-ever full band show, and when the crowd sang “Forever Girl” along with him, Jon knew he wanted to pursue a career in music. Since then, the now 27-year-old Music City resident has not only signed a publishing deal with Sony ATV and is managed by KP Entertainment, but has fostered his own voice in country music and landed a record deal with Universal Music Group Nashville. The Georgia native is the first artist under Luke Bryan’s new label, 32 Bridge Entertainment, and will be worked in conjunction with EMI Records Nashville. He recently released his major label debut single “When It Comes To Loving You” which landed in the Top 5 of the all-genre iTunes Chart and has accumulated over 9 million streams.
